Anchoring guidewire with shape memory and methods for use

Description:

Coiled anchoring guide wire

Sanford Tech ID: 0006-02

Invention Summary

0006-02 is a guide wire which has a coiled anchoring feature on the distal end, that when deployed, can secure within a vessel to prevent loss of distal wire placement.

Value Proposition

*Allows guide wire to be anchored in the peripheral vessels to enable peripheral interventions from a radial access.

*Allows for the guide wire to be anchored within the visceral arteries while advancing more stiff devices during complex aneurysm repair.

*Saves valuable procedural and catheterization lab time by preventing slip out and subsequent re-accessing of difficult anatomy.

*Allows potential for use in the coronary sinus in assisting to anchor the guide wire while advancing pace maker leads.

Market Opportunity

This technology can provide a strategic advantage for companies who have an already existing line of pace maker leads or branched and fenestrated stent grafts.

Intellectual Property

Pending utility patent application in the US, Europe, Japan, Australia, and Canada.

Development Status

To date, drawings have been made.  Next steps are to develop a prototype.
