Description:
Diaphragm stent graft system
Sanford Tech ID: 0008-01, 0008-02, 0008-03
Background
Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysm (TAAA) is a life threatening disease process with an incidence rate of up to six per 100,000 people. They are a challenging malady with open surgical repair being intolerable for many patients and endovascular approaches requiring complex case planning and device customization. With advancing endovascular experience the need for an off the shelf non-anatomical base design is in significant need.
Technology overview
Four patent families address the need for an off the shelf non anatomic design with a top down pararenal graft configuration allowing for insitu customization of the repair of thoracoabominal aortic aneurysms.
Stage of development
To date, early prototypes have been made and first in man, compassionate use implants have been successfully performed with long-term follow up data.
Benefits
• Off the shelf design allows for minimal number of SKUs to successfully treat almost any TAAA
• Allows treatment option for those with prior open repair and endovascular repair
Applications
This technology can provide a strategic advantage for TAAA repair and with additional development may also assist in treatment of proximal aortic arch disease.
Opportunity
Sanford Health is looking for a commercial partner in the endovascular space. The ideal partner will have:
• The requisite manufacturing capability, likely ISO 13485 standards or equivalent.
• Access to capital to develop the device.
• A strong clinical support team.
Seeking
• Development partner
• Commercial partner
• Licensee
IP Status
Some patents in the family have issued. One family is in the provisional stage. Others have nationalized PCT patent applications.
