Woven stent deployment system

Description:

Push/Pull Woven Nitinol Stent Device Deployment System

Sanford Tech ID: 0002-01

Invention Summary

0002-01 is a stent deployment system which allows for the proximal end of the woven nitinol device to be advanced simultaneously while the distal end of the catheter is retracted.  This is beneficial because of the dramatic foreshortening that woven nitinol devices undergo upon deployment.  The technology allows for more predictable deployments and recapturing in complex anatomy.

Value Proposition

*Allows for more predictable deployments.

*Allows for device recaptured if the first deployment is not satisfying.

Market Opportunity

This technology provides a strategic advantage for companies who have traditional pin-and-pull deployment systems for their already existing woven nitinol devices.  Provides differentiation in the market.

Intellectual Property

Granted patent in the US and Europe.

Development Status

To date, a prototype has been built but not validated.  Next steps are to create a clinic-ready device.
